Smoking Loon Old Vine Zinfandel 2005
March 19, 2008 | 1 Comment

Wine Maker’s Remarks This Zinfandel has rich purple color with aromas of fresh figs, dark cherries, and subtle rosemary notes. Rich and structured, our 2005 Loon Zin has dark chocolate, espresso, wild game, and dried cherry finishing with blackberry compote and integrated French oak. Grilled game would work wonderfully with this Zin. Try marinating some venison (or a beef tri-tip) in a few cups of this wine over night with a sprig of rosemary and some white pepper, then grill it to medium (or medium rare if you dare). Serve this with your favorite mashers and collard greens sautéed with smoked bacon.

Wine Maker’s Remarks: Head-trained, dry farmed old vines are again the source for Bogle’s Old Vine Zinfandel. These gnarly old vines produce concentrated fruit of unsurpassed quality and intensity.
This supple and mouth-filling vintage leads with juicy blueberry and ripe blackberry fruit. Black pepper and hints of chocolate notes integrate well with this soft, plush body. Subtle hints of spicy oak and pipe tobacco create structure, allowing this wine to stand up to a variety of fare.
This is the perfect wine to pair with everything from rich sauces and unique dishes, to your favorite weeknight take-out.
