SUTTER HOME CHENNIN BLANC is extremely cheap for a decent desert wine. Now pros might not enjoy it, but I must say for a social situation where you do not know if people even like wine it is perfect. Even people who don’t like wine will feel they fit in. It is sweet as sugar but gives an after taste of a wine. Nothing like going to a party and there is 4 bottles of MERLOT and your a white wine drinker. Whats the cheapest you have seen this wine and let me know what you think about!! Oh ya Join US. Cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices were added to this Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Designed as a mulled wine, it is meant to be served warm during winter by the fireplace, or after a cold day outdoors.
When served chilled in the summer months, it makes an agreeable substitute for Sangria.
The art of adding spices, or “mulling” wine is a centuries-old tradition. In the cold winters of northern Europe, wine would often be served warm during the holiday season. The English brought this custom to Virginia in the 16th century.

Tasting Notes: Rich ruby color. On the nose, elegant with spicy notes of cocoa. On the palate, full, well-balanced, red cherry flavors with soft tannins.
Food pairings: Be classic: great with most meats on the BBQ.

The ultra-cool climate region of Orange in NSW, allows this Merlot to develop excellent depth of colour and fruit flavours which exude vibrant dark berry characters. The firm but well rounded tannins reflect the 16 month French oak maturation which the wine undergoes prior to bottling. Cellaring potential is 10 to 15 years.

This is a good wine. I purchased the bottle for $7 at K-Mart. It has a strong bite with the first sip but then becomes mellow and a little sweet. I would recommend this wine to all!

Wine Maker’s Remarks: Moderate winter and spring rains allowed the vines to get off to a good start in spring and ensured good flowering and set. This was followed by dry warm weather over summer during shoot and berry development creating balanced vines and canopies with little to no disease. A cool end to autumn allowed the fruit to reach full ripeness, excellent colour and flavour, with varietal expression, concentration and structure.

Wine Maker’s Remarks: The grapes came primarily from vineyards in the Central Coast and Lodi regions, both excellent sources for high-quality Merlot. Mild summer weather and a relatively light crop in these areas contributed to an impressive concentration of color, aroma and flavor in the fruit, which was harvested in fine condition before the sun vamoosed and Jack Frost – or Jack Nicholson – came nipping at our heels. WINEMAKING We night-harvested the fruit, crushed it into stainless steel fermenters, then inoculated the juice with a cultured yeast. (Yes, yeast are highly cultured.) The juice fermented for a week at 70-800 F. and was pumped over the grape skins several times daily to maximize extraction of color, flavor and tannin.
