Most Popular Cheap Wines

May 25, 2008 | 1 Comment

I have found that the most popular Cheap Wines are wines that I never even thought about drinking till after I created Cheap Wine Critics. I found that normal people feel weird spending $40.00 to $50.00 on a bottle of wine. If your anything like me I start breaking it down to how many hours I worked to buy a 720ml bottle of wine!

Oak Leaf Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, Oak Leaf Vineyards Pinot Grigio/Chardonnay and Charles Shaw “Two Buck Chuck” all Varietals have been searched more than any other wines on Cheap Wine Critics. These wine are generally $4.00 and under. This shows me people are inspired to search for a Cheap Wine with a great experience.

SEE HOW EXCITED I AM TO HEAR WHAT CHEAP WINE YOUR DRINK!!

Blind Tasting

Blind tasting

To ensure impartial judgment of a wine, it should be served blind; that is, without the taster having seen the label or bottle. Blind tasting may even go as far as useing a dark or black glass so the tester can not see the color or characteristics of the wine. A taster’s judgment can be modified by knowing details of a wine, such as geographic origin, reputation, color, and especially price.

Scientific research has long demonstrated the power of suggestion in perception as well as the strong effects of expectancies. For example, “High price makes wine more pleasurable.”

The world of wine has numerous myths and exaggerations that are only now being disproven scientifically, yet they influence perceptions and expectancies. Not even professional tasters are immune to the strong effects of expectancies. Therefore, the need for blind tasting is important and continues.

Most popular purchased wines…

Popular Wines

I went to Farm Fresh (a local grocery store) today to pick up some dinner and a bottle of wine. I purchase a bottle of wine almost everyday. I never go over $12. Today I had the opportunity to talk with the Wine Specialist named C.J.. I asked C.J. what the most popular wines were. C.J told me it matters the season and or the Holiday. She said that they sell more Merlot’s in the winter than in the summer. She said in the summer people tend to purchase a lot of White Zinfandel’s and Pinot Grigio’s.

Overall she said it is hard to tell what sells best. It seams that there are so many different people with so many different taste that even Mad Dog 20/20 sells its share.
