Oak Leaf Vineyards 3L 3 LITERS
February 13, 2009
HOLY MOLLY!! Oak Leaf Vineyards $2.97 wine as upgraded to a larger bottle or should I say Box!! I was looking for some items at my local Walmart when I ran Across some Godly!! A 3 Liter box of Oak Leaf Vineyards Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon in a 3 Liter Box. Now if you know anything about box wine, then you know you can keep most box wine for over a month. If you dont drink 3 Liters a month maybe this is not the site for you!!
I say Tell me what you think about the box wine. Let me know how long it had been in your fridge open and if it is still good. It is a great wat to spend $10.00.
Hit me back. Let me know what you think.

Got something to say?

I have been hearing about this wine for a while now and I am just trying it for the first time. Personally I don’t think it’s very good. It’s seems to watered down. I think you are better off spending an extra five bucks and picking up a cab from chile or Argentina. With that being said I’ve defintely had alot worse
Great expressing your opinion!! That is what I like to hear.. The truth.. I myself am a fan of all the Oak Leafs except the Merlot.
Well…if you want to know the truth…I think it’s a great wine. I went out the other night and had Cabernet by the glass – $!0 a glass. Oakleaf Cab is superior. I like the Merlot and the Cabernet, I belong to a Napa wine club and granted, it does not compare, however, I don’t wake up with a headache and it’s not $30+ a bottle.
For the price, it is better than most $10-15 per bottle.
Of course….just my opinion.
You drank a 3L and still didn’t get a head ache!!
I have always thought about joining a wine club. Just in order for me to post the wine on Cheap Wine Critics it must be under $12.00. Plus as most of you I like to pay 2.97 for a bottle.. I mean heck if you don’t like it!! DUMP IT!! It is affordable to dump!!
The Shiras for 2.97 at Wal Mart here in NC is excellent – I have never been disappointe with Oak Leaf.
The Cab is one of their best but when I tried the Shiraz. I was sold!
Oops should have spelled that Shiraz
The Shiraz is by far the best bang for the buck. When does it get put in the box? We also like the Chardonnay very much and
purchase it in the box most of the time.
i was in WalMart and they had these on display–i bought Merlot for me and White Zifandel for my wife– we both thought it was a fair wine with meals– we do not like anything that is strong or heavy at meals– to sit around with company is a different story– i like something with a full body– preferably Italian–
My gfriend and I usually drink wine bottles who are in between the $7-11 range. We usually take turns buying bottles. It was my turn to buy a bottle and I got a bottle of Pinot Grigio at WalMart (I was broke that week). I thought my gfriend would say something when we opened the bottle but all she said was that she liked the wine. A week later it was my turn to buy again and this time I bought a Sauvignon Blanc and she loved it. I think that Walmart will raise the price once they get people hooked on this stuff… so i bought two cases just in case. Not the best wine… but for $3 I would recommended it to anyone.
I agree with Ron above. The Shiraz is by far the best and in fact, I bought a case about 3 weeks ago and now I can’t find it at any of my local Walmarts. I’ve asked the managers and they don’t know when the Shiraz will be back on the shelves. If we were just rating “cheap wines”, I would give it a higher rating. For everyday wine, the Shiraz is really good. Great site by the way.
Both my husband and I are wine drinkers and I must say I really enjoy all the Oak Leaf wines and prefer to buy it in the 3 Liter Box which is very hard to find at WalMart. (Sometimes it’s there and sometimes not) I do have a question though….why is it not sold in a 5 Liter Box in the state of Florida? (In fact all boxed wines are sold only in 3 Liter here in Florida) is it a state law?
I bought both a box of Cabernet and have enjoyed it. I am not sure it is as good as Aldi’s Winking Owl but I find it worth the money and better than many much higher priced Cabernets.
I also bought a box of the Chardonnay. IT has a chemical taste that I cannot tolerate. Perhaps it is the plastic bag or something. I have bought the bottled Chardonnay and found it much better but it was not available.
It could have been that I just got a bad box. I will try it in a bottle one more time.
I have purchased svl. of the Wal-mart bottles…Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, merlot & cab..and thot the flavor for the value in price $2.97 was a GREAT deal. However, I just purchased a 3L box of the chardonnay from Wal-Mart & it was SPOILED…Wal-Mart will not take it back even tho. I have a receipt & only had a glass out of the entire box. It was $9.97. I am highly disappointed in this!! Franzia boxes have also been spoiled lately from diff. retailers I’ve purchased them from…What is the deal??? And these retailers won’t take them back?? I think Oak Leaf & Franzia need to start repaying us for the amt. of wine purchased out of our pockets..mid-as-well flush that money down the toilet!!
seams the the chardonnay is bad as well as other from the boxes. Is this the end to good cheap wine at wal-mart? oh ya for the person thats wants me to refund your money…. I am just a drinker that shares my info with you not a dealer you would have to go to oak leafs website to deal with that.. they probably wont get back with you as they did not me…
I’m trying to comment on the 3 liter box purchased at Walmart…I’ve bought this several times before but this last time(Oct.24th) was a disaster! I’ve never tasted such a taste! I had refrigerated the Chardonney as usual but it was bad. I’ve returned it to Walmart with a hard exchange(didn’t realize you needed a receipt for wine) so I purchased another box to see if that one is bad, too. I’m usually loving this brand and of course the cost is amazing…Other people have experienced the same situation. Has the vinyard gone dry? Sour? Please let me know what the problem has become as I don’t want to give up this brand.Thank you. LGO
I like the Chardonnay in the bottle, the pinot is a bit bland. Haven’t tried the others yet. The only boxes left were the white zin which I don’t care for. But, I am wondering also….why boxes are only 3L in Florida, we got 5L in CA. Anyone?
I love the Shiraz…
Stores will not take liquor or cigs back at all because of ATF laws… that is just the way it is.
The Oakleafs are great, we are red wine drinkers and I would have to say the Shiraz is the best best, Merlot being second.. the Pinot is not bad at all either
I went to walmart and thought I would gives this a try. I’m a seasoned wine drinker and thought well if its bad then i’m only out 2.97.
I took it home and went to work on opening this master piece. Once I opened it everything starting becoming clear and the skies opened up like the returning of jesus himself.
I thought I found the fountain of youth. It was simply amazing this is a great choice its a close to heaven with out buying the farm that you can get.
Nectar of the gods on a hobo budget. mm mm
Cannot find the 3L boxes anywhere in Florida… Used to have them everywhere and now, not one in any walmart. And, today, they didn’t even have the 750ml of Oakleaf, in any varietal. Is this the end?
Without a doubt, he BEST low end wine with a moderate priced taste on the market.
While standing at my local WalMart to check ou and pay for my wine, the guy in front of me starts telling me how much he enjoys the wines. The cashier chimes in that it’s becoming her favorite.
Then the lady behind me says she stopped buying the $10 – $15 every night wines and switched to Oak Leaf.
KEEP IT COMING!
I purchased the Oak Leaf Merlot…it was very dry and tasteless…..does anyone have a suggestion for a sweeter oak leaf wine, I am new to the “wine” life. please help!
I picked up a 3L box to take on a long weekend trip to a B&B with my husband. Perfect size for the 5 day weekend. Oak Leaf Chardonnay is a great price for a decent wine.
